For those of us fortunate simply to be born within certain geographical boundaries, United States citizenship might be taken for granted. “It’s so easy to become a citizen,” one might think, and then never give it a second thought.
The reality, though, for many of those who were not quite as fortunate as to be born within those certain geographical boundaries, is quite the opposite. Naturalization, the process of becoming a citizen for those not born in the United States, is arduous. It is costly. It is nerve-racking and stressful.
Yet, at the same time, for those same people, to be a citizen of the United States is desired. Citizenship is sought after with zealous intensity. It is pursued with a great amount of hard work and determination.
We, at the SSJ Welcome Center, are extremely proud of and support all who have braved and continue to brave the process!
